Sailboat horn

Post by Flat Train »

I have a friend that has a sailboat, and he wants a loud horn on it. I have permission to install an air tank and horn, and was wondering what kind of horn I should use. I was thinking of the Nathan CD-34-SDF as the horn because it’s designed for the toughest conditions, and this horn needs to be saltwater resistant, and the horns could possibly become underwater if the boat goes into some big swell. What do you guys think? http://microprecisiongroup.com/nathan-a ... nical-info

Get a Kahlenberg. They are made for marine applications.

Stainless steel, although pretty corrosion-proof in normal conditions, can corrode quite quickly in marine salt water use.

Bronze and brass are the materials ideally to be used.

I agree with the above, Kahlenberg horns are your best bet. Arguably the #1 name in the market, their horns stand up well to the conditions at sea. You'll likely have an easier experience purchasing from Kahllenberg than you would from MP.

I would use a kahlenberg but they seem quite expensive. I want at least 130 DB minimum.
