Prime horns list and Prime parts list

Post by Mafarnz »

Most folks are familiar with Prime locomotive horns, and know they offered the 920 and 9920, copies of Leslie S3L and S3K respectively. There is also mush talk online about the offered but never built prime 5 chime horn with several videos on YouTube of recreations of this horn. However what is less well known is that Prime offered single and two chime horns as well. These are very rare but I have seen a handful of both in collector hands.

Posted below are two documents from Prime. One shows the Prime catalogue numbers for the horn offerings, and the other is a drawing of the Prime 5 chime, with a list of all available Prime horn parts and their corresponding part numbers.

Have any Prime single or 5 chime manifolds ever shown up? I have a photo of the two chime in my files.

I’d love to see those photos.
The Prime five chime was never built so there are no photos of the manifold or the 55 equivalent bell.
