Ok, here's one!
How are crossing bells initiated on approach, or are there different systems in use depending where it is?
For example, here in the UK, we have 'treadle operated' automatic crossings which a train wheel activates, but also CCTV ones which the signaller operates. And even a few manually operated by traincrew pressing a plunger.

I Would say 99.9 of crossings are activated via the wheels closing a circuit, but some are manually operated in museums. Sometimes, they come at their disadvantages though. In this video, the switch was very close to the crossing, so the crossing didn’t activate until the train went over the switch. Thank god this wasn’t a busy intersection. Great K3LA and amazing echos as well!
