Re: OC P3 that has a unique chime to it

It’s just a standard old cast P3. It has a very brassy tone to it, and is likely a very early, 1950’s era casting.

Homemade Leslie RS diffuser plate

I recently picked up an RS chamber that was missing the diffuser ring. I took an aftermarket S diaphragm ring that was the wrong size and used it to make a new diffuser ring. Worked pretty good.

Re: A little experiment!

Sounds really good!

I’d like to hear this same combo but with a 1L instead of a 5.

Re: What type horn on this ALCO switcher??

Same or similar type. Back in those days air horns weren’t that common, most non steam equipment (electric locomotives and new diesels) had air whistles. Those curved horns were some kind of early horn from WABCO.

Re: K3ULLB Project

Absolutely love it! I had thought about doing the exact same thing with the K5 low manifold to make a K version of a U manifold. Great minds think alike I guess.

By the way, the Leslie 3L chord is bells 25, 31, 44. The K #1 bell is same as a Leslie 31, not a 37.

What's more, at least one of their roster definitely came from L&N, pictured here. What horn is that...?
That’s a P3. Not to say that it wasn’t a later replacement.

Leslie A-300 DVE Diaphragms

A while ago I saw a post on Facebook with a guy asking about these bronze plates that had a Leslie logo on them. I thought they were A-200 diaphragms so I arranged a sale of them. I got them delivered the other day and turns out they are A-300 diaphragms. 300mm in diameter and a whopping 4mm thick! ...

Re: Unbeatable prices on ebay

A lot of pieces are posted at extremely high prices. Very few actually sell for that much.
