Re: Individual K horn sound file?

Are you wanting a sound from a specific era or the “advertised” chord? There is a HUGE variation of sound in the K bells over the years, and the #2 is one that makes a very big difference in the chord.

Re: A weeeee bit crusty….

I’ll find out once I get it off the piece of loco roof and cleaned up. Handling it the whole thing feels solid.

A weeeee bit crusty….

So this is a thread for me to document and share the process of rebuilding the crustiest horn I’ve ever seen. I’m told this came off a switcher at a line plant where they loaded covered hoppers. I’ve never seen a horn this caked in mineral deposits before. In addition, anti theft bars were welded to...

Re: Hornblasters announcing they have acquired Leslie horns

Listed less than 24 hours ago and almost $600. Absolutely insane. Hornblasters you guys had a great chance to revive a once fantastic brand and offer replacement parts for reasonable prices, but have instead gone as greedy as you possibly could. Once again your reputation is quite predictable of you...

Re: Refund Scammed Through Ebay (Buyer Stole Horn From Me)

There is no scam or fraud to be found here. Sellers on eBay are responsible for packing things well enough to make the trip once shipped. If it was lack of packing then that’s on you. If it was rough handling then you need to file an insurance claim with the carrier.

Re: Are scrap dealers a good source for horns?

It depends on who it is. Some will gladly sell to the public, some won't. Cresson Steel is one that sells to the public, I got a P5 from them. The biggest thing is to not go in hot headed and a know it all, just call them up, ask if they sell to the public, and what they are willing to sell used as ...

Re: Nathan K3 manifold

Those manifolds are very old and extremely rare, and on the very rare occasion you can find one they are priced accordingly. If you are looking for the more compact mounting I would suggest get one of the K5H manifolds. They are cheap and easily found. You can tap and plug the air ports on the extra...

Re: Facebook scam seller

If you’re buying from somebody unknown, it’s best to use PayPal goods and services or something similar, that has buyer protection built into it.

Re: My Newcast P5 (also my introduction)

Love the blue & white color scheme! Reminds me of Rock Island bankruptcy blue.

The P horns follow the same serial numberings as the K horns. 34712 would put it sometime early 2000's. There is a 27,XXX confirmed number from 2001, and 55,XXX confirmed number from 2007.

Re: 1952 Leslie S2MR

The tag is a 1959-1962 era. Is there a date stamp on the manifold?
