Re: Refund Scammed Through Ebay (Buyer Stole Horn From Me)
I think those “radioactive waste” stickers are phony because they have a biohazard symbol on them. Nice try.

Re: My first 2 horns
The price you payed for the kits was really not that bad, considering what a new K3 costs these days, and you got a whole setup for $1k
Not to mention that I've seen horns going for ridiculous prices on ebay, local listings, etc. The days of "$100/bell +$50/manifold" pricing are long gone.

Re: Effect of bore diameter on sound
The big bore and small bore 5 bells are nominally the same length. The reason they blow the same note is that the area inside the nozzle is bored deeper on the small-bore bell to lower the pitch. If it were not bored, it would sound something like 660 Hz. That little difference in depth lowers the p...

Re: Leslie K-5A SUPER MOD
I watched your video, very nice work! However to regain the original S5A tuning you will have to adjust the bell lengths again. Boring out the throats of the bells lowered their pitch, but not all the same amount. That "detuned" the chord so that it will need to be adjusted to bring it back in. Easi...

Re: Grey cushion rings on a K?
I've seen cushion rings red or gray (standard, ~ 0.140-0.145 thick), bright red (~0.150-0.155 thick), and as Reed mentions, the black ones (0.120-0.125 thick) The most common are the red, then gray. The others I mentioned are less common. Tip: substituting a different thickness cushion ring will cha...

EMD-Leslie (and Nathan) Horn Part Numbers
You know than number on your Leslie builder's tag? It is not a serial number. Attached is a list of EMD part numbers for various Leslie horn configurations. I believe this list dates to the early 1960s so not all designations are covered. But this will give you some idea of the specification for you...

Re: Recent Tab Power Chamber Rebuild
Not being the owner of a tabbed back Leslie, could you explain what function the pop rivets perform, and why they were installed in the first place, presumably instead of a machine screw? Thanks! The pop rivets are a cheap and quick way to re-install the baffle plate - but not the best way. Standar...
